People of the Blues, People of Hope: Living Advent
The deep blue of Advent is meant to inspire the hope of faith, and to encourage us to keep watch for the promised light of Christ to break over the horizon, changing night into day, darkness into light, and filling our lives and our world with God’s peace and loving justice.
You are invited to mark the season in some particular ways through the Grace community:
Please join us at Grace on Wednesdays during Advent for mid-week worship and meals—December 5, 12, and 19. This is for ALL AGES!
Soup Supper—6:00-6:50 pm
A simple meal of soup and bread at no cost…come when you can during this time.
Holden Evening Prayer—7:00-7:45 pm
Featuring music of the blues, voices of hope, and candlelit prayers.
No need to RSVP — just join us when you are able. We will be ready for you.
Please park in the Grace Garage and use code 1168* (the star is part of the code) to enter. The code will remain the same through December. Alternatively, park in the hospital ramp and pick up a voucher at Grace to exit the ramp for free.
Sign up on the church office door to help with soup, bread, cheese, set up and clean up
(or email Jill in the office – firstname.lastname@example.org).
Devotionals drawing on scripture, music, poetry, and writings will be prepared by Grace pastors and staff and emailed daily during Advent. You may already be on this email list if you received them last year! But if you aren’t and you’d like to be…the best way to do that is to update your preferences from a Grace email (at the bottom of a Letterbox or Messenger email) where you’ll be able to check the “Daily E-votionals for Advent and Lent” option. If you would be new to Grace announcement emails in general, visit the Mailing List page here on our website at http://graceattheu.org/contact-us-directions/mailing-list/ and sign up to receive the kinds of emails you’d appreciate.
Bring warm winter wear (hats, mittens, scarves…blue, if you can) to place on our Advent tree by the pulpit. Donations will be given to the Center for Victims of Torture.
