Discussion of White Fragility, by Robin DiAngelo
Join Grace Racial Equity Team members Blake MacKenzie and Sara Martin for a discussion of White Fragility, by antiracist educator, Robin DiAngelo. Michael Eric Dyson describes White Fragility as, “A vital, necessary, and beautiful book, a bracing call to white folk everywhere to see their whiteness for what it is and to seize the opportunity to make things better now.” Inspired? Join us! This small group will read DiAngelo’s book over four weeks, focusing on three chapters each week. While it is preferable to read the first three chapters before our meeting on March 13, feel free to come even if you haven’t opened the book.
The Practice of Prayer
Prayer has been described as “Finding the Heart’s True Home.” With our focus on the “Prayers of the People” this Lent, this small group will explore and ponder different forms of prayer. Meditation, Centering Prayer, Contemplation, Gratitude, Healing, Intercession will be discussed and practiced. Using TED Talks and other video resources, words from those from various faith traditions who have lived lives of prayer will inform our time together. Pastor Dan will facilitate.
Grace will send a daily e-votional each day during Lent—if you received the Advent e-votionals, you’re all set! If not, you may subscribe to these online—click HERE, or email Jill in the office at firstname.lastname@example.org to be added. Printed devotional booklets (the same content as the emailed version) will also be available starting March 3. Our devotionals are shaped by the poetry of the psalms and the reflections and prayers of the Grace community and staff.
