Recognizing that…as a congregation committed to responsibly stewarding God’s gifts of resources in creation…in a society that both perpetuates and profits from waste…Grace now participates in the organics recycling program through the City of Minneapolis. “Reducing, Reusing and Recycling” fits well into Grace’s mission to be good stewards of the earth’s resources. We are excited to participate in this initiative.
Want to learn more about recycling in general and for this community? Check out this presentation by Amy Maas, a recycling technician with the Hennepin County Environment and Energy Department, for an adult forum on February 14, 2016: GRACE RECYCLING (pdf) or GRACE RECYCLING (powerpoint)
Our bins:
Green for organics
Blue for recycling
Black for trash
It’s rather exciting to discover exactly HOW MUCH organics recycling covers – it’s not just for vegetable matter anymore! There are signs and labels on or near each bin, especially the ones in our most-used areas: the kitchen and fellowship hall.
If you have questions, please contact Jill in the office at info@graceattheu.org or 612-331-8125.
Grace member Nancy Laskaris worked diligently to acquire a grant for new collection containers, signage, and other resources to make this happen. Thank you, Nancy!
